CIRSE 2017 Congress

16- 20 September 2017 | Copenhagen, Denmark

The CIRSE and IDEAS 2017 Programme Committees are in process of designing the programme for next year. The Abstract submission deadline has been set for February 13 and the Preliminary Programme will be published in February 2017. For now, you can look forward to the following highlights …

A comprehensive endovascular programme

As endovascular therapies are such a large focus of the congress, the programme will again contain of three distinct categories: arterial, venous and aortic interventions; the latter covered in the Interdisciplinary Endovascular Aortic Symposium (IDEAS), a parallel multidisciplinary EVAR/TEVAR programme which will run from Sunday to Tuesday. CIRSE 2017 will see sessions covering IVC filters, venous stenting, drug-eluting technology and closure devices plus many more exciting topics in the arterial and venous tracks.

Oncology, pain and non-vascular IR

As always, CIRSE endeavours to offer delegates a full and wide-ranging educational programme. Next year’s congress will feature sessions on bone therapies, interventional oncology and renal therapies to name a few. There will also be a focus on clinical practice, with anaesthesia, sedation and analgesia, which are increasingly important topics in IR, as well as ample attention given to the subject of patient management.

Hands on Device Training

As learning about the latest medical devices and equipment is an integral part of the congress experience, CIRSE 2017 has come up with a new training format called Hands on Device Trainings. This new format will replace the Hands on Workshops and be more device-orientated, with clearer learning objectives and guidelines.

Are you ready (for the new radiation safety directive)?

Since the creation of our Radiation Protection Subcommittee and the Radiation Protection Pavilion (RPP) at CIRSE, it has been one of CIRSE’s key initiatives to provide advice and education on radiation protection for those working in the medical field and their patients. With new radiation protection legislation on the way, it will become indispensable to stay ahead of the game and this topic will therefore be a core theme of CIRSE 2017, featuring the Radiation Protection Pavilion, a Hot Topic Symposium and dedicated sessions.
